CATSAT altimetry maps are the result of the unique expertise that CLS has acquired in data processing and analysis over the last 10 years.

These skills have been progressively acquired through the company's close involvement in developing the ground processing systems for the radar altimeters on-board:

European Space Agency's ERS-1 and ERS-2 satellites, and the ENVISAT mission. TOPEX/POSEIDON satellite a joint NASA-CNES altimetric mission and its follow-on JASON-1.

Radar altimeter measurements are collected every day and are unaffected by the presence of clouds. These measurements cover the global ocean and are processed and merged by software specifically designed by CLS to obtain weekly global sea level anomaly maps.
