The microwave radiometers records micro-wave emission from sea surface layer. The geopgraphical coverage provided by the satellites are comprised between 40°N and 40°S.
The final resolution is 28 km and this instrument is non affected by cloud coverage.

CLS collects data and provides them as temperature maps, like the NOAA pictures.
This data is also used to validate cloud mask during AVHRR data processing.
